International Scrimmage @ the Carrier Dome

• UPDATE: The Box office at Gate B will open at 9:00am
• UPDATE: Gates (A,B,C,E) will open at 10:00am and tickets will also be on sale at those gates as well.
  • Gate A is the main gate and where merchandise will be on sale.
  • Gates A&C are accessible gates.
• The Updated schedule is as follows:
  • Game 1: 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Iroquois vs Israel
  • Game 2: noon-1 p.m. Albany vs Israel
  • Game 3: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Albany vs Iroquois
• Tickets will be $10.00 (Ticket go on sale Sept. 25 at 10:00 am via this Ticketmaster link)
  • Kids 12 and under are $6
• Parking will be $5.00 (Update: West Campus Lots)
  • UPDATE: Gate A is preferred because it is at ground level and wheelchair accessible. Archbold strip is the accessible drop off, accessible parking is available in Irving Garage and there is an elevator to the crosswalk and gate C.

Water

• Indigenous Values Initiative will be selling bottled water $1.00.

Food

• There will be lots of traditional Haudenosaunee foods, including corn soup and buffalo burgers.

ATM

• There will be an onsite ATM for those that need cash.

Charging Stations

• Diversegy will be on site providing solar-powered charging stations. Think Green. Be connected.

2017 LASNAI Box Tournament Schedule & Preview

Below is the schedule for the LASNAI game times and location. There will be 21 teams playing games over three days which means lacrosse fans have the exciting opportunity to see games not only indoors at Tsha’ Thoñ’nhes (the Onondaga Nation Fieldhouse) but also at outdoors in the legendary outdoor box as well!

LASNAI Tickets

In order to attend the LASNAI Box Tournament you will need to purchase tickets. There will be tickets for sale at the door each day on a first come first serve basis. However if you buy your tickets now you can get a three day pass for $25 and the chance to see up to 63 Lacrosse Games! That’s less than 40 cents a game. You can’t beat it.

Lacrosse fans, as well as educators and students, will enjoy the weekend, which concludes with a Carrier Dome scrimmage featuring the Iroquois Nationals, Syracuse and Team Israel. “We are showcasing world-class lacrosse, but the reason we are involved is that the wooden stick is a reference point for teaching people about the values of the Haudenosaunee,” Arnold says.

 

The Haudenosaunee Wooden Stick Festival will take place Thursday, Sept. 28, to Saturday, Sept. 30, on the Onondaga Nation. The educational festival will showcase speakers and demonstrations of lacrosse, wooden stick making, native food, arts, traditional dance and culture, and sovereign representation at the United Nations. “Spirit Game: Pride of a Nation” will be shown twice daily. The documentary, produced by One Bowl Productions in partnership with the Haudenosaunee, premiered in Syracuse in June and features Haudenosaunee leaders and lacrosse players. Admission to the festival and film are free.

Syracuse University Men’s Lacrosse to host a triple scrimmage between Iroquois Nationals and Team Israel. The Scrimmage will take place in the dome Sunday October 1. Tickets are $10.00 and parking is $5.00

LASNAI LOCATION

Most of the LASNAI Box Tournament will be taking place inside Tsha’ Thoñ’nhes (The Onondaga Nation Fieldhouse). However, a few select games will be played outdoors in the old box.  Fans will appreciate this rare opportunity to watch their favorite players in this setting.  Most of the teams will have the chance to play one or two games outside in the box.

2017 LASNAI Teams Announced

“Each Haudenosaunee community has its own unique struggles, but what bonds us absolutely is lacrosse,” said Lyons. “When talking about our deep connection to this sport it’s important that we convey that message with love and reverence.”

There’s a beautiful segment about the role women play in the game. The joy from this being the first international competition held on indigenous lands jumps off the screen. They document the way in which Oren Lyons, Rick Hill, Tonia Fritchner, and Wes and Kim Patterson founded the Iroquois Nationals. Few sports teams have have done so much for the pride of a people.

A clip which may summarize it all comes from Jeremy Thompson, who speaks over some of the film’s most stunning action shots.

“When I talk about the good mind I talk about good thoughts, giving thanks to The Creator for giving me this game. Sometimes I feel like crying I’m overwhelmed, I’m so happy. If I have to shed a little tear I let it out. That’s what makes me grateful, content. I feel calm until the first whistle. And after that you put your best effort out there. That’s what I do.”
